Bij de productie van rietsuiker ontstaan grote hoeveelheden restmateriaal genaamd “bagasse”. Deze overblijfselen zouden zijn afgebrand maar worden nu gebruikt als natuurlijke grondstof voor de productie van suikerriet producten.
