Certifications

With our products we meet the increasing awareness for sustainabililty and circular entrepreneurship. By using sustainable packaging and disposables you can distinguish yourself with corporate social responsibility and contribute reducing the use of plastics. Our products are certified for various requirements, including compostability.

On every product page you can see which certificates are applicable for that particular product. See below the explanation of our most important certifications.

Certified for foodcontact
In collaboration with research and certification institutes, including SGS, our products are tested and found safe to come in contact with food. our products meet the requirements of the current European Commission Regulation regulation (EU) No 10/2011 from 14-01-2011 and Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 from 27-10-2004.

Industrial compostable certified according to EN13432
The term compostable is used to indicate that a product can be made into compost within a specified period of 12 weeks by industrial methods. This applies to all components, inks and any additives. The designation EN13432 refers to the European standard for industrial compostability, recognizable by the seedling logo or the OK compost mark. Various recognized certification institutions such as TUV and DIN CERTCO carry out the certification procedure and test whether a product meets the following requirements:

- Disintegration: the physical disintegration of the product into very small fragments. After 12 weeks, at least 90% of the products must fall through a 2x2mm sieve.
- Biodegradation: chemical breakdown of the material into carbon dioxide, water and minerals. According to the standard, the material must be biodegraded for at least 90% within a period of 6 months.
- Quality of the final compost and ecotoxicity: quality must not be reduced as a result of the added product.
- Chemical composition: the standard sets limits for volatile components, heavy metals and fluorine.

Home compostable
The OK compost Home certificate guarantees complete biodegradability at the compost heap at your own garden. Keep in mind that composting at your own compost heap is a slower process due to the lower and less constant temperature as in an industrial composting environment.

FSC® certificication
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an international organization committed to conservation and responsible forest management worldwide. FSC speaks of responsible forest management when the ecological, social and economic aspects associated with forest management are taken into account in a balanced way, FSC has arranged this in a transparant manner. Partly because of this, FSC is supported by all major environmental and development organizations. This makes FSC unique! The more demand for FSC products, the more hectares of forest will be managed according to FSC guidelines. More people and animals that depend on the forest will benefit from this. As a company, Natureko is FSC-certified and is therefor allowed to sell FSC-certified products with a FSC claim. Look out for our FSC-certified products in our webshop.

Nordic Ecolabel
The Nordic Ecolabel certification generates sustainable solutions based on building on a life cycle. With our efforts to make sustainable products, there is a risk that we solve a problem in one place, but create another environmental problem. The entire product life cycle from raw material to production, use, processing and recycling is taken into account in the assessment when drawing up the requirements for a certified product. This is important to ensure that we reduce the overall impact on the environment and climate. In addition to environmental requirements, it is also important that the quality and durability of the products are guaranteed.

EU-Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel is the European ecolabel for non food products and services, with the goal of stimulating more sustainable production and consumption. The label is recognized by all countries of the European Union and by Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. Products and services with the EU ecolabel are produced with a lower environmental impact of:
- raw materials
- energy
- water
- harmful substances
- waste
- packaging
